1. Information We Collect

  • Information you give us: When you contact us via WhatsApp, email, or any form on the site (such as the Kitesurf Progression Calculator), we may collect your name, email address, phone number, and any details you choose to share about your experience, level or booking.

  • Information collected automatically: When you visit our site we may collect technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device, pages visited and time spent, through cookies and similar technologies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We process your personal data to:

  • Respond to your enquiries and manage your lesson bookings;

  • Provide, operate and improve our website and services;

  • Analyse site usage and performance;

  • Send you marketing or promotional messages only where you have given consent;

  • Comply with our legal and accounting obligations.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data on the basis of: your consent (for marketing and non-essential cookies); the performance of a contract (to deliver lessons you book); our legitimate interests (to run and improve our business); and legal obligations (such as tax and tourism-activity record-keeping).

4. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies to make the site work, and — only with your consent — analytics and advertising cookies (including Google Analytics and Google Ads) to understand traffic and improve our marketing. You can accept, refuse or choose "essentials only" through our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time by clearing cookies in your browser.

5. Sharing Your Information

We never sell your personal data. We may share it with trusted service providers who help us operate — such as our website host (Squarespace), analytics and advertising providers (Google), and messaging tools (WhatsApp/Meta). These providers process data on our behalf and are bound to protect it. Some may process data outside the EU; where they do, appropriate safeguards (such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses) are in place.

6. Data Retention

We keep your personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above — typically for the duration of our communication or booking relationship and any period required by law (for example, accounting records). After that, we delete or anonymise it.

7. Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to: access your data; correct it; request its deletion; restrict or object to its processing; withdraw consent at any time; and request a copy of your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email us at wearesaltypeople@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese supervisory authority, the CNPD (Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados).

8. Data Security

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent version.
